about Linda Holiday
Linda Holiday Sensei, 7th dan, is the Chief Instructor of Aikido of Santa Cruz. For over 45 years, she has devoted herself to teaching and developing Aikido in Santa Cruz. She is the author of the book Journey to the Heart of Aikido: The Teachings of Motomichi Anno Sensei.
In 1970, in the early years of Aikido in United States, Linda began her study of Aikido as a first-year student at the University of California, Santa Cruz. In 1973, she moved to Japan to receive instruction from the generation of Japanese Aikido teachers who had studied directly with the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba O-Sensei. She was one of the first Westerners to live in the remote Kumano area of Japan, the birthplace of O-Sensei, and undertake rigorous physical and spiritual practice there.
She trained in Japan for several years, studying Aikido and Japanese language, culture, and traditional practices. Those early years of shugyo (intensive training) in Japan inspired Linda Sensei to dedicate her life to the martial art, spiritual discipline, and profound path of peace that is Aikido.
Location Dojo
All lessons will take place at Sportcentrum Valkenhuizen, Beukenlaan 15 in Arnhem.

Location Misogi Practice
Misogi practice for the Sunday morning 9.30 – 10.30 class will be Grindgat, Rosandepolder 20, 6862 VR Oosterbeek.
Bring a towel, dry clothes and your weapons!
If you have spare ones please bring them as well.
N.b. It is not possible to park the car on the Rosandepolder road. Find a parking space in the area of Klingelbeekseweg. It’s a 10 minute walk to the waterside. Be sure to be on time.
Misogi – the practice of purification – is a way of restoring our mind and bodies to a state of purity. We will perform the shin kokyu practice that O’sensei used to teach in the beginning of aikido classes. It is a combined practice of meditation, movement, visualization, and breathing.
Before doing the misogi practice we will have weapon training on the beach. Wear your gi! After that we will enter the water in our gi-pants (no jackets) to perform the shin kokyu practice.
Be sure to bring a towel and dry clothing. Have a dry gi with you for practice in the dojo afterwards.
