Karin Karis will be facilitating a series of 6 special aikido classes on Sunday afternoon. Tankyū (探求 or 探究) means investigation, experiment, or quest in Japanese.
The focus in these classes lies not so much on techniques as on specific topics. We will come together in the spirit of inquiry, curiosity, and desire to know more. Through practice and reflections we will explore the underlying philosophy of aikido and its application on and off the mat.
The series will be on Sundays from 12.30 – 15.00 throughout the year.

27-29 November 2026
Jan Nevelius, 7th Dan, Shihan from Vanadis Dojo, Sweden, will return in 2026 for another weekend seminar.
Jan Nevelius has been dedicated to his practice of Aikido since the mid 1970’s. Jan sensei studied for several years in Japan at Aikikai Hombu Dojo in the 1980’s, where he was inspired by the second Doshu Kisshomaru Ueshiba, the elder Osawa Sensei, Yamaguchi Sensei, and Endo Sensei. Upon Jan Sensei’s return to Sweden, he began to teach; he also became a student of Christian Tissier Sensei (Paris), and a close personal student of Seishiro Endo Sensei (Saku, Japan).
